Mental Health Coaching for Companies

I have specialised for the past ten years in an area called mental health coaching.  This uses the cognitive behavioural framework to support adults living with mental health difficulties. It is action oriented with an emphasis on improving one’s life and achieving goals for the future. I facilitate change in the client’s behaviour by providing expertise and supporting them to remain ‘on track’ with goals and challenges. It focuses on tackling psychological blocks to achievement, how to manage their mental health difficulty, how to follow a recovery plan, how to live more healthily and generally how to get their life ‘back on track’.

Reasons for needing mental health coaching

  • an employee might frequently be off sick
  • an employee might have been signed off by the GP on a short-term basis for either stress or depression/anxiety
  • an employee might not be currently as productive as they had been in the past
  • an employee might be presenting as stressed and unable to cope with job demands
  • an employee might be having difficulty getting along with colleagues unusually
  • an employee might be complaining to HR or their manager about feeling lower in mood than what is normal for them
  • an employee might be anxious about a particular event or piece of work
  • an employee might have recently disclosed a mental health issue and need help managing it whilst remaining at work

What is mental health coaching and how is it offered?

Mental health coaching is a short-term intervention typically offered once per week for an hour either in person (at your offices) or online via skype. Usually people only need a few sessions, but this is assessed on an individual basis. It uses the cognitive behavioural framework to support adults living with mental health difficulties.

How can mental health coaching benefit your company?

  • It empowers employees to take responsibility for their behaviour, feelings and general well-being
  • It increases staff engagement
  • It improves productivity and performance
  • It decreases sickness and absence rates
  • It prevents people leaving the company because their mental health issue was not addressed
  • By addressing an individual’s mental health issue, you are helping them to be the best they can be, and they will work harder for you, knowing that you care.
